To provide a method for disposing of pumice stones that can lose floatability of pumice stones floating on a water surface and dumping the pumice stones into the sea, by a low-cost and simple method.SOLUTION: When pressure in a disposing chamber 2 is reduced down to a first pressure lower than atmospheric pressure by a vacuum pump 3, in a state where pumice stones F are put into the disposing chamber 2, air in gaps of the pumice stones F is discharged to the outside. Thereafter, when the pressure in the disposing chamber 2 is returned to a second pressure higher than the first pressure, water infiltrates into the gaps of the pumice stones F, so that apparent specific gravities of the pumice stones F become higher than the apparent specific gravity of the water. The pumice stones F whose apparent specific gravities are increased are carried to the ocean by a ship and then are dumped into a predetermined territorial waters range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】低コストかつ簡易な方法により、水面に浮遊する軽石の浮遊性を喪失させて海洋投棄することが可能な軽石の処理方法を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】軽石Fを処理室2に投入した状態で、真空ポンプ3により処理室2を大気圧よりも低い第1の圧力まで減圧することで、軽石Fの空隙内の空気が外部に放出される。その後、処理室2を第1の圧力よりも高い第2の圧力まで復圧すると、軽石Fの空隙に水が浸入して軽石Fの見かけ上の比重が水よりも大きくなる。見かけ上の比重が大きくなった軽石Fを船舶で外洋まで運搬し、所定の領海範囲に海洋投棄する。【選択図】図1
