To provide a steer-by-wire steering unit characterized in that a steering actuator changes the orientation of a turning part according to a manipulation quantity of a steering wheel detected by a steering sensor, and that, when the orientation of the turning part reaches a stroke end, a driver is reliably prompted to recognize the situation through the steering wheel.SOLUTION: A steer-by-wire steering unit includes: an engagement piece 24 disposed between a shaft 4 rotating integrally with a steering wheel 1, and an internal circumference of outer ring 21; a retainer 25 disposed circumferentially movably between an engaged position where the shaft 4 is engaged with the internal circumference of outer ring 21 via the engagement piece 24 retained in between and a disengaged position where the engagement is canceled; a centering spring 26 prevented from rotating by the shaft 4 and retainer 25 so as to elastically retain the retainer 25 at the disengaged position and rotate the retainer integrally with the shaft 4; and an electromagnetic brake 27 that brakes the retainer 25. The steer-by-wire steering unit increases rotation torque of a reaction force motor 6 so as to increase a steering reaction force as approaching a stroke end, and activates the electromagnetic brake 27.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】操舵センサで検知されるステアリングホイールの操作量に応じて転舵アクチュエータが転舵部の向きを変化させ、転舵部の向きがストロークエンドに到達したときに、ステアリングホイールを通じてその状況を確実に運転者に感知させるステアバイワイヤ式操舵装置を提供する。【解決手段】ステアリングホイール1と一体に回転する軸4と外輪21の内周間に配置された係合子24と、係合子24を保持して軸4と外輪21の内周に係合させる係合位置と当該係合を解除する解放位置との間を周方向に移動可能に配置された保持器25と、保持器25を解放位置に弾性的に保持しかつ軸4と一体に回転するように軸4及び保持器25に回り止めされたセンタリングばね26と、保持器25を制動する電磁ブレーキ27とを備え、ストロークエンドに近づくに連れて操舵反力が大きくなるように反力モータ6の回転トルクを上昇させ、さらに電磁ブレーキ27を作動させる。【選択図】図1
