To provide a manufacturing method for a shock absorption mechanism capable of providing a shock absorption mechanism for performing shock absorption suitably and capable of reducing a development cost.SOLUTION: A shock absorption mechanism 2 is configured such that a plurality of shock absorption units 5 including columnar wooden pieces is arrayed in a direction orthogonal to an axial direction thereof. When the shock absorption mechanism 2 is manufactured, it is assumed that a pole 6 collides with the shock absorption unit 5 at a predetermined collision angle φ (deg) with respect to an axial direction C of the shock absorption unit 5, a ratio w/L between an axial length L (mm) and a width w (mm) of the shock absorption unit 5 is determined using the collision angle φ and the following formula so as to satisfy the following formula: w/L≥5.50×10-5φ2+4.05×10-3φ+4.10×10-1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
