To exert desired performance with respect to input from an oblique direction.SOLUTION: An impact absorbing device 1 of a vehicle comprises: a buffer mechanism 5, provided at a front end of a vehicle body 3, which contracts in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle to absorb collision energy; a bumper 6 arranged in front of the buffer mechanism separately therefrom; a push rod 7 extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle from the buffer mechanism to the bumper; and a rotary link mechanism 8, arranged between the buffer mechanism and the bumper, which converts force in an oblique direction inputted to the bumper to force in the longitudinal direction, and transmits the force to the buffer mechanism.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
