To continue driving assistant control even if an own vehicle deviates from a target traveling path while suppressing increase in the volume of stored lane information used for driving assistance control.SOLUTION: A driving support method includes the steps of: acquiring lane information for a first lane L1 of a first road R1 on which an own vehicle 1 is traveling in a range ahead of the own vehicle 1; acquiring lane information for a second lane L2 branching from the first lane L1 ahead of the own vehicle 1 and extending into a second road branching from the first road R1; determining whether or not a position of the own vehicle 1 in a lane width direction has advanced by a predetermined length or more beyond a lane boundary line Lb between the first lane L1 and the second lane L2; and discarding the lane information of the first lane L1 when it is determined that the position of the own vehicle in the lane width direction has advanced by the predetermined length or more beyond the lane boundary line Lb.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】運転支援制御に用いる車線情報の記憶容量の増大を抑制しつつ、自車両が目標走行経路から外れても運転支援制御を継続する。【解決手段】運転支援方法では、自車両1よりも前方の範囲における、自車両1が走行する第1道路R1の第1車線L1の車線情報を取得し、自車両1の前方で第1車線L1から分岐する第2車線L2であって、第1道路R1から分岐する第2道路へと伸びる第2車線L2の車線情報を取得し、自車両1の車線幅方向位置が第1車線L1と第2車線L2との間の車線境界線Lbを超えて所定長以上進んだか否かを判定し、車線幅方向位置が車線境界線Lbを超えて所定長以上進んだと判定した場合に、第1車線L1の車線情報を破棄する。【選択図】図2
