An automatic parking system acquires a vertical number indicating the number of parking spaces disposed side by side in the vertical row direction for each of the plurality of parking areas. For each of the plurality of parking areas, an empty number indicating the number of empty parking spaces is acquired. An empty number threshold which is a threshold of the empty number for calculating a priority of parking areas to park an automatic parking target vehicle is calculated based on the vertical number. The priority is calculated in such a manner that the priority of parking areas whose empty number is equal to or more than the empty number threshold becomes higher in comparison with the priority of parking areas whose empty number is less than the empty number threshold.
