To limit a vehicle speed while preventing a vehicle collision accident.SOLUTION: A vehicle speed control device comprises: a vehicle roadside communication unit that acquires a regulatory speed of a road in which a vehicle travels; an inter-vehicular distance measurement unit that measures an inter-vehicular distance between a vehicle and a following vehicle that travels behind the vehicle; a limiting speed determination unit that determines a vehicle limiting speed; and a storage unit that stores a recommended inter-vehicular distance. The limiting speed determination unit determines a target limiting speed in a road on the basis of the regulatory speed. When the inter-vehicular distance is the recommended distance or more, the limiting speed determination unit gradually reduces the limiting speed until the speed reaches the target limiting speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
