To provide an electric assist carriage that is configured to prevent a driving wheel from being driven when applying pressing force or tensile force only to an either handle.SOLUTION: An electric assist carriage 10 according to the present invention comprises: driving wheels 24L and 24R arranged at left and right sides of a base; driving mechanisms 26L and 26R that rotationally drive the driving wheels respectively; a left handle 20L arranged behind the base; and a right handle 20R, which further comprises: left pressing force detecting means 23L, arranged in the left handle, which detects pressing force acting on the left handle; right pressing force detecting means 23R, arranged in the right handle, which detects pressing force acting on the right handle; and control means 30. The control means does not allow the left driving mechanism and the right driving mechanism to rotationally drive the wheels, when an absolute value of pressing force detected by one of the left pressing force detecting means and the right pressing force detecting means is over a predetermined threshold but an absolute value of pressing force detected by the other is below the predetermined threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
