To detect a failure in a filter circuit which is used as a PoDL filter.SOLUTION: A signal transmission device 2 includes: a communication unit 21 which is connected to an electronic apparatus 1 by a differential wiring 5 constituted by a pair of wires to perform communication by the differential transmission with the electronic apparatus 1 through the differential wiring 5; and a signal processing unit 27 which executes signal processing related to the communication. The communication unit 21 can receive communication signals, transmitted from the electronic apparatus 1 at a plurality of signal transmission speeds which at least include a signal transmission speed T1 and a signal transmission speed T2 lower than the signal transmission speed T1, through the differential wiring 5. The communication unit 21 measures by a reception processing unit 210 the amplitude of each communication signal received from the electronic apparatus 1 at the signal transmission speed T2. The signal processing unit 27 detects, by a filter state determination unit 270, a short-circuit failure in each filter circuit 13, 23, based on the amplitude measured by the communication unit 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
