To provide an outboard motor and a ship propulsion system which can minimize the number of rotation of an engine effectively upon shift-in in order to reduce shift shock.SOLUTION: An outboard motor 101 includes an engine 1, a power generation device 5 which is connected with a crank shaft 10 and generates electricity by driving the engine 1, a driving force transmission part 2 which transmits a driving force of the engine 1, a propeller shaft 3 which is provided with a clutch part 30 and is rotated by switching the clutch part 30 from such a neutral state that the clutch part is cut from the driving force transmission part 2 of the engine 1 which is set on an idling state to such a non-neutral state that the clutch part 30 is connected to the driving force transmission part 2, and a control part 7 which reduces the number of rotation of the engine 1 as the result of regeneration by the use of the power generation device 5 based on a switching operation of user with respect to such a shift operation part L as to switch from a neutral state into a non-neutral state and, further, performs such a control as to connect the clutch part 30 with the driving force transmission part 2 while rotating the engine 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】シフトショックを低減するためにシフトインの際にエンジンの回転数を効果的に小さくすることが可能な船外機および船舶推進システムを提供する。【解決手段】船外機101は、エンジン1と、クランクシャフト10に連結され、エンジン1の駆動により発電する発電装置5と、エンジン1の駆動力を伝達する駆動力伝達部2と、クラッチ部30が設けられ、クラッチ部30がアイドリング状態にあるエンジン1の駆動力伝達部2から切断される中立状態から、クラッチ部30が駆動力伝達部2に接続される非中立状態に切り換わることにより、回転するプロペラシャフト3と、中立状態から非中立状態に切り換えるシフト操作部Lに対するユーザの切換操作に基づいて、発電装置5による回生によりエンジン1の回転数を小さくした上で、エンジン1を回転させた状態でクラッチ部30を駆動力伝達部2に接続する制御を行う制御部7とを備える。【選択図】図2
