To provide a vehicle detector for enabling an effective use of a reflection wave even when a vehicle is not detected.SOLUTION: A vehicle detector 1 includes: an ultrasonic head part 10 which is installed over a road R, so as to transmit an ultrasonic wave toward a road surface R of an opposite road and also to receive a reflection wave of the ultrasonic wave; and a vehicle detection unit 21 where information based on a distance from the ultrasonic head part 10 to the road surface R is set and which acquires a reflection arrival time and detects a vehicle V traveling on the road surface R on the basis of the acquired reflection arrival time. The vehicle detection unit 21 determines that the vehicle V is detected when the reflection arrival time is less than a threshold th1, and determines that a change of a road surface state of the road surface R is detected when the reflection arrival time is equal to or more than the threshold th1 and also less than a threshold th2. When it is determined that the vehicle is detected, the vehicle detection unit 21 does not use the reflection arrival time for movement average calculation, and then, does not use the time for detection of the change of the road surface state of the road.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7

    【課題】車両を感知しない場合の反射波も有効利用できるようにした車両感知器を提供する。【解決手段】車両感知器1は、道路R上空に設置され、対面する道路の路面Rに向かって超音波を送信するとともに、超音波の反射波を受信する超音波ヘッド部10と、超音波ヘッド部10から路面Rまでの距離に基づく情報が設定され、反射到達時間を取得し、取得した反射到達時間に基づいて路面R上を走行する車両Vを感知する車両感知部21と、を備えている。車両感知部21は、反射到達時間が、閾値th1未満である場合は車両Vを感知したと判定し、反射到達時間が、閾値th1以上かつ閾値th2未満である場合は路面Rの路面状態の変化を検出したと判定する。そして、車両感知部21は、車両を感知したと判定した場合は、当該反射到達時間を移動平均の算出に利用しないことで道路の路面状態の変化の検出に利用しない。【選択図】図7
