To provide an elevator provided with push buttons and non-contact sensing means so that the elevator enhances user convenience while inhibiting increase in size of an operating panel.SOLUTION: An elevator-operating device 2 comprises: movable push buttons 13; moving mechanisms 20 to enable the movement of the push buttons 13; and switch bodies 17 operated in accordance with actuation of the push buttons 13. The device further comprises non-contact sensing means 18 located opposite rear faces of the push buttons 13, where the non-contact sensing means senses that a user's fingertip has reached a prescribed position separated from the push button 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
