To provide a vehicle collision energy absorption part and a method for manufacturing the vehicle collision energy absorption part that provide the improved collision energy absorption effect at the time of axial crushing due to an impact load inputted from the front or the rear side of a vehicle body and reduce additional manufacturing processes to prevent manufacturing costs from being largely increased.SOLUTION: A vehicle collision energy absorption part 1 includes: a cylindrical member 3 formed of a hat cross section member including a ceiling portion 7a and vertical wall portions 7b; a film formation member 5 disposed at a location including a corner portion 7c that connects the ceiling portion 7a and the vertical wall portion 7b on the outer surface of the ceiling portion 7a and the vertical wall portion 7b, arranged at a clearance 11 of 0.2 mm or more and 3 mm or less with the outer surface of the ceiling portion 7a, the outer surface of the vertical wall portion 7b, and the outer surface of the corner portion 7c, and formed of a material having strength smaller than that of the cylindrical member 3; and a coating film 13 formed in the clearance 11 .SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
