To make it possible to dissolve a sense of insecurity perceived by a driver when a moving object existing in a blind spot area of the own vehicle is detected by an ambient environment recognition unit installed in an own vehicle, the sense of insecurity being derived from a state that the driver cannot recognize the detected moving object.SOLUTION: Blind spot areas Bl and Br on sides of an own vehicle M are set based on inclinations of mirror surfaces of side mirrors Msl and Msr and a position of a driver D who discerns the mirror surfaces. When the driver D intends to change a course, if entry of a parallel running vehicle P and/or a passing-through vehicle O into the blind spot area(s) Bl and/or Br is detected, angle(s) of the mirror surface(s) is shifted so that the driver D can discern the parallel running vehicle P and/or passing-through vehicle O.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
