To provide a rubber composition capable of obtaining low energy loss (excellent fuel consumption) even when silica is used instead of carbon black and capable of realizing tires suitable for trucks and buses for low fuel consumption in particular and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The modified polyisoprene according to the present invention is characterized by bonding a silanol group derived from a silane coupling agent to polyisoprene. The rubber composition for the tire tread according to the present invention is characterized in that 100 pts.wt. of the rubber component containing the modified isoprene and 10 to 100 pts.wt. of silica, and the rubber component contains 20 wt.% or larger of the modified isoprene relative to 100 wt.% of the rubber component.SELECTED DRAWING: None
