To enable an extendable shaft to undergo a smaller increase in the area of contact of a resin layer with an internal teeth, leading to less deterioration in its sliding characteristics.SOLUTION: An extendable shaft (intermediate shaft) 5 includes: an inner shaft 35 including a plurality of external teeth 41; an outer shaft 36 including a plurality of internal teeth 39 that slide relatively to the external teeth 41; and a resin layer 50 covering the external teeth 41.
