To provide a motion estimation system and a motion estimation method which can accurately estimate a body motion of an occupant in a mobile object.SOLUTION: A motion estimation method comprises detecting a body motion of an occupant in a mobile object, detecting a position of the occupant in the mobile object as an occupant position, detecting mobile object motions at a plurality of installation positions in the mobile object, estimating the mobile object motion at the occupant position based on a positional relationship between the occupant position in the mobile object and the plurality of installation positions and the mobile object motions at the plurality of installation positions, and estimating a body motion of the occupant based on the detected body motion and the mobile object motion at the occupant position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
