To provide a train movement detection system which can detect a train movement without an auxiliary power supply when a train power supply is lost and also can detect it even when the train moves without wheel rolling because of train sliding and the like.SOLUTION: A train movement detection system S which detects a movement of a train 101 acquires a periphery picture of the train from an imaging unit 104, just after the system recovers from a non-communicative state in which an onboard device 102 that detects a train position based on information from a ground unit and a ground device 112 cannot communicate mutually, calculates movement detection information indicating whether the train moved from the non-communicative state time to the recovered time based on a comparison between the acquired picture and a picture for referencing and outputs the movement detection information to the onboard device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
