To provide a lift assist device with excellent operability capable of coping with change in rotation speed of an operation chain of a chain block.SOLUTION: A lift assist device 10 includes a main wheel 28 allowing to be externally connected to an operation chain 27 of a chain block, a first pulley 21 rotated coaxially with the main wheel 28 with respect to a frame 15, a first belt 11 having one end wound around an outer periphery of the first pulley 21, a second pulley 22 rotated by a driving motor 16 fixed to the frame 15, a second belt 12 having one end wound around an outer periphery of the second pulley 22, and a variable speed pulley 30 around which the other end of the first belt 11 and the other end of the second belt 12 are wound to change a rotation ratio of both belts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
