To provide a follow-up travel control device which can reduce such a risk that the own vehicle is hit from behind by a following vehicle in such a case that an inter-vehicle distance deviation is small even though the relative speed between the own vehicle and a preceding vehicle is close to 0.SOLUTION: At the start of ACC control in a situation that a preceding vehicle exists near the front side of the own vehicle (S11:YES), the relative speed between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle is usually close to 0. In this case, even though the relative speed between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle is close to 0, the inter-vehicle distance deviation being the value obtained by subtracting the target inter-vehicle distance from the inter-vehicle distance between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle is small (S12:YES), however, in the case where the relative speed in the direction in which the own vehicle gets close to the preceding vehicle is not generated, an ACC brake is not being operated, the own vehicle is not traveling on a downhill and the own vehicle speed is not less than a prescribed vehicle speed (S13-S16:NO), the operation of a hydraulic brake is suppressed and the ACC brake is not operated (S17).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
