To provide a detection device of a step tread lifting capable of detecting the tread lifting of each one step of an escalator.SOLUTION: A detection device 12 of a step tread lifting brings a detection rod 12a into sequentially contact with treads 5b of multiple steps 5 of an escalator 1 and measures the displacement magnitude of the treads. A camera 12h is installed in the position that includes the detection rod 12a and the treads 5b before/after the detection rod 12a in the imaging range at the same time, and images them. A data processing device 16 identifies a demarcation 5c by the brightness change of the image, separates the steps 5 one by one, and detects the lifting magnitude of each one step of the tread.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
