To stabilize the tube fastening rigidity in a steering column unit and an EA load by an energy absorption mechanism.SOLUTION: A steering column unit 1 includes a lower tube 7 attached to a vehicle body, an upper tube 8 disposed to be able to move in a fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle body with respect to the lower tube 7, and an energy absorption mechanism 20 interposed between the lower tube 7 and upper tube 8. The energy absorption mechanism 20 includes an absorption load generation member 21 included in the lower tube 7, a constraint member 22 that presses the absorption load generation member 21 against the periphery of the upper tube 8, and an absorption load generation hole 23 formed in the periphery of the upper tube 8. When the upper tube 8 receives an impact load toward a forward part of the vehicle body, a notch 21c of the absorption load generation member 21 is pressed on an edge 25 of the absorption load generation hole 23 to be cut off.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】ステアリングコラム装置におけるチューブ締結剛性、及びエネルギー吸収機構によるEA荷重を安定させる。【解決手段】ステアリングコラム装置1は、車体に取り付けられるロアーチューブ7と、ロアーチューブ7に対し車体前後方向に移動可能に設けられるアッパーチューブ8と、ロアーチューブ7とアッパーチューブ8との間に配置されるエネルギー吸収機構20と、を備える。エネルギー吸収機構20は、ロアーチューブ7に設けられる吸収荷重発生部材21と、吸収荷重発生部材21をアッパーチューブ8の外周に対して押圧する付勢部材22と、アッパーチューブ8の外周に設けられる吸収荷重発生用孔23とを有する。吸収荷重発生部材21の切欠部21cは、アッパーチューブ8が車体前方に向けて衝撃荷重を受けたときに、吸収荷重発生用孔23の縁部25に押し付けられて破断される。【選択図】図1
