To accurately detect a dozing state even in a state in which a driver turns right or left in a dozing driving prevention device which analyzes a face image of the driver picked up with a camera to generate an alarm sound when it is estimated that the driver falls into the dozing state.SOLUTION: The respective pieces of imaging data obtained from three cameras 1a, 2a, 3a arranged on a front face, right and left in front of a driver 17 are saved for every predetermined time (for example, every one second). The face images are segmented to be analyzed, respectively, and face image data picked up from the frontmost direction is selected to determine whether or not the driver falls into a dozing state. 【課題】カメラで撮像した運転者の顔画像を解析し、居眠り状態に陥ったと推定されるときに警報音を発生させる居眠り運転防止装置において、運転者が左右を向いた状態でも居眠り状態を精度良く検出できるようにする。【解決手段】運転者17の前方の正面と左右に配置された3台のカメラ1a,2a,3aから得られる各撮像データを所定時間毎(例えば1sec毎)にセーブし、それぞれ顔面画像を切り出して解析し、最も正面方向から撮像されている顔面画像データを選択して、運転者が居眠り状態に陥ったかどうかを判断する。前記顔面画像データの選択については、顔面画像における顔構成要素の配置領域の偏りの度合いを確認し、最も偏りが少ないものを選択する。【選択図】図5
