To provide a counterweight device that is low in cost and makes it easy to visually recognize the total mass of counterweights.SOLUTION: A counterweight device is mounted on a crane, and comprises: a plurality of counterweights; a base on which the plurality of counterweights are vertically arranged in a stack; and an indicator abutting on the counterweights from a side. The indicator has: an extending/shortening portion that extends/shortens outside the plurality of counterweights; and a sheath portion accommodating the extending/shortening portion such that the extending/shortening portion can project in the direction of the stack. The difference between the distance to the leading end of the sheath portion and the distance to the leading end of the extending/shortening portion, with the base as a reference, increases according to the number of the counterweights arranged in a stack.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
