To provide a cargo handling control device for a forklift, which enables a cargo to be accurately loaded at a prescribed position of a fork by using an inexpensive distance sensor.SOLUTION: A cargo handling control device 18 comprises: at least a pair of left and right primary laser distance sensors 19 that are provided to both left and right sides of a loading device 4 and that detect a distance from an object by applying a primary laser beam to a part ahead of a forklift 1 and receiving a laser beam reflected from the object located ahead of the forklift 1; a loading start position determination unit 31 that determines a loading start position of a fork 13 with respect to a box-shaped pallet 3 to be loaded mounted ahead of the forklift 1 on the basis of the detection value of the pair of left and right primary laser distance sensors 19; and a loading control unit 32 that controls a traveling motor 9 and a lift cylinder 15 so as to load the box-shaped pallet 3 to be loaded on the fork 13 in accordance with the loading start position determined by the loading start position determination unit 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
