To provide a pedestrian position prediction method and device with which it is possible to appropriately predict the future position of a pedestrian who proceed avoiding an obstacle.SOLUTION: A pedestrian position prediction method includes: setting an avoidance complete position at a point apart by a prescribed passing-each-other distance from an obstacle in a direction perpendicular to a pedestrian pathway; setting an avoidance start position and a pathway return complete position assuming that the pedestrian moves toward the avoidance complete position at a prescribed angle of intersection from the avoidance start position on a pathway and returns to the pathway return complete position on the pathway at a prescribed angle of intersection from the avoidance complete position; and calculating a polynomial with the set avoidance start position and pathway return complete position as extreme values, and predicting the curve represented by this polynomial as the future walking path of the pedestrian.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】 障害物を回避して進む歩行者の将来位置を適切に予測することができる歩行者位置予測方法及び装置を提供する。【解決手段】 歩行者位置予測方法において、障害物から歩行者進路に直交する方向に所定のすれ違い距離だけ離間した地点に回避完了位置に設定し、歩行者が進路上の回避開始位置から所定の交差角をもって回避完了位置に向かい、所定の交差角をもって回避完了位置から進路上の進路復帰完了位置に戻ると仮定して、回避開始位置と進路復帰完了位置を設定する。設定された回避開始位置と回避完了位置と進路復帰完了位置を極値として有する多項式を算出し、この多項式が表す曲線を、歩行者の将来の歩行経路と予測する。【選択図】 図5
