To provide an electromagnetic suspension which can make compatible improvement of thrust performance and reduction of a manufacturing cost with each other.SOLUTION: An actuator 11 has a plurality of cylindrical covers 32 composed of magnetic substances. The cylindrical covers 32 are arranged at needles 26 in positions opposing armatures 23 at internal peripheral sides of permanent magnets 31 in a radial direction, and hold the permanent magnets 31. Also, the actuator 11 has a plurality of annular spacers 33 composed of non-magnetic substances. The annular spacers 33 are arranged while extending in the radial direction of the cylindrical covers 32. In this case, the annular spacers 33 abut on, and are arranged in a clearance between one-side end surfaces (lower end surfaces 31A) of the adjacent permanent magnets 31 and other end surfaces (upper end surfaces 31B), and in a clearance between one-side end surfaces (lower end surfaces 32A) of the adjacent cylindrical covers 32 and other end surfaces (upper end surfaces 32B).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
