To reduce energy consumption by a vacuum pump for brake booster which is driven by an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An automobile brake system comprises a booster 25, and includes a vacuum pump 7 which is driven by an automobile engine 8 in order to communicate vacuum with a chamber of an auxiliary device. This system further includes a control valve V which is inserted along a fluid communication line 6 between the pump 7 and the chamber. The control valve V is in a first operation state that an inlet side of the vacuum pump 7 communicates with the chamber of the auxiliary device when a pressure in the chamber exceeds a prescribed threshold. Instead of this, the control valve V is in a second operation state that the inlet side of the vacuum pump 7 communicates with ambient air A when a pressure in the chamber of an auxiliary device 25 is lower than the prescribed threshold. In this second state, the pump 7 takes in air from ambient air and feeds air into ambient air.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
