To accurately estimate the state of a lead acid battery even when there exists a variation in the temperature between the cells of the lead acid battery.SOLUTION: Provided is a lead acid battery state detector comprising a processor and a memory for storing a program which, when executed by the processor, realizes the functions below, the lead acid battery state detector receiving a voltage signal from a voltage sensor that detects the terminal voltage of a lead acid battery, a current signal from a current sensor that detects a charge/discharge current of the lead acid battery and temperature signals from at least two temperature sensors that detect the temperatures of cells located at both ends of an electrolytic bath, calculating values of elements that constitute an equivalent circuit of the lead acid battery on the basis of the voltage and current signals of the lead acid battery during a discharge, correcting the values of elements that constitute the calculated equivalent circuit on the basis of a difference in the received temperatures of the cells located at both ends, detecting the state of the lead acid battery on the basis of the corrected values of the elements, and outputting the detected state of the lead acid battery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
