To provide a power transmission shaft of which cost reduction can be achieved, and is surely damaged when a prescribed load is inputted in an axial direction.SOLUTION: A shell 2 is used for a power transmission shaft made of a fiber-reinforced plastic which transmits power by rotating. The shell 2 comprises: a cylindrical body part 10 with an axis O1 as a center; a second connection part 30 of which a diameter is reduced with respect to the body part 10, and to which a stab shaft 4 (connection member) is joined; and a ramp 40 which is formed between the body part 10 and the second connection part 30, and of which an outer diameter is reduced as approaching the second connection part 30 from the body part 10. The ramp 40 is formed in a curved shape in the axis O1 direction, and a fragile part 50, which is damaged when a load inputted in the axis O1 direction exceeds a specified value, is formed on the ramp 40. The fragile part 50 is a part of the ramp 40 where an inclination angle of the body part 10 and the second connecting part 30 with respect to the axis becomes maximum.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】低コスト化を図れるとともに、軸線方向に所定の荷重が入力したときに確実に破損する動力伝達軸を提供する。【解決手段】回転することで動力を伝達する繊維強化プラスチック製の動力伝達軸に用いられる管体2である。管体2は、軸線O1を中心とする筒状の本体部10と、本体部10よりも縮径され、スタブシャフト4(連結部材)が接合される第二接続部30と、本体部10と第二接続部30との間に形成され、本体部10から第二接続部30に向かうに連れて外径が縮径された傾斜部40と、を備えている。傾斜部40は、軸線O1方向に曲線状に形成され、傾斜部40には、軸線O1方向に入力された荷重が所定値を超えると破損する脆弱部50が形成されている。脆弱部50は、傾斜部40のうち本体部10および第二接続部30の軸線に対する傾斜角度が最大となる部位である。【選択図】図2
