To make it easy for a user to get on/off a wheelchair by making a neat space around the feet of the user seated on a seat part, and to make it easy for the user to perform steering by stabilizing a gravity center balance while traveling.SOLUTION: An electric wheelchair includes a wheelchair body 50, and a drive mechanism 1 moving the wheelchair body 50 with a motor 10. The drive mechanism 1 freely rotatably connects an exterior case 2 extending in the vertical direction and having a handlebar 8 connected to an upper part and a driving wheel 9 connected to a lower part, to the wheelchair body 50 by a connection mechanism 3 in the direction in which the direction of the driving wheel 9 can be changed. The connection mechanism 3 comprises: a fixed frame 4 which connects its both ends to a lower frame 63 of a pair of vertical frames 51 of the wheelchair body 50; a connection frame 5 whose rear end is connected to the fixed frame 4 and which is arranged in a horizontal position extending forward; and a rotation mechanism 7 which freely rotatably connects an end part of the connection frame 5 to the exterior case 2.
