To enhance energy efficiency of a Peltier element.SOLUTION: A temperature control device A for a battery mounted on a vehicle comprising a driving battery comprises: a coolant passage 1 of a coolant supplied from the vehicle; a heating/cooling element 2 which is disposed at an upstream side of the battery in the coolant passage, has a first part or a second part controllable to have different temperature levels, and is capable of selectively heating or cooling the coolant by the first part or the second part; first temperature measurement means 3 which measures the temperature of the coolant at an upstream of the heating/cooling element; second temperature measurement means 4 which measures the temperature of the coolant after passed through the battery; and a switching valve 5 which is prepared between the first temperature measurement means and the second temperature measurement means, and switches the coolant passage due to the measured coolant temperature. A passage of the coolant after passed through the battery is connected with the coolant passage of the first part or the second part by the switching valve.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
