To provide a display device with which it is possible to suppress a decrease in image quality due to an environmental change or aging.SOLUTION: The display device comprises a light source, a light polarization unit for polarizing light emitted from the light source and scanning light in main scan and sub-scan directions, a screen scanned by scan light that is light scanned, and a light receiving element for detecting scan light. The light receiving element detects scan light in each of a first region and a second region including mutually different positions in the sub-scan direction in a scan region that is a region secondarily scanned by scan light on each prescribed cycle, and differentiates the positions in the sub-scan direction of scan light in the scan region in accordance with the number of scan lines in the first and second regions that are scan trajectories in the main scan direction of the scan light detected by the light receiving element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
