To provide a cooling system of an internal combustion engine which can improve fuel economy by suppressing a frequency of an operation of a fan without lowering the cooling performance of the engine at a high load of the engine, and a control method of the cooling system of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: Related to a cooling water passage 3 for cooling an engine 2, engine cooling water W passes a radiator-side cooling water passage 3a being a passage at a radiator 4 side rather than thermostats 6a, 6b arranged in the case passage 3, and when the engine 2 is in a high load, a fan 7 for the radiator 4 is not operated, and a temperature Ta of a heat accumulator 10 arranged in a second bypass passage 9 for the radiator 4 arranged in the radiator-side cooling water passage 3a is equal to a third set temperature T3 or lower, on-off valves 11a, 11b arranged ahead of and behind the heat accumulator 10 of the second bypass passage 9 are brought into open states.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
