To provide a maintenance tool for an escalator handrail, which can efficiently clean the inner surface of the handrail over the entire right and left width.SOLUTION: A maintenance tool 16 comprises a handle 17 and a head 18. The handle 17 has first and second parts 19, 20. The first part 19 extends forward from a rear end. The second part 20 is bent downward from the first part 19 to extend up to a front end. The head 18 is provided at the front end of the second part 20. The head 18 has a cleaning body attaching surface 23 on the bottom surface. The cleaning body attaching surface 23 is a surface to which a cleaning body that comes into contact with and cleans the inner surface of the escalator handrail is attached. The cleaning body attaching surface 23 is directed in a direction where a normal N forms a sharp angle θ2 with a straight line L parallel to the first part 19. The right and left width of the cleaning body attaching surface 23 is narrower than the inner width of the handrail and wider than the width of a gap extending in a longitudinal direction on the backside of the handrail.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
