To provide an electromagnetic brake device capable of suppressing sticking of abrasion powders of buffer rubber between a core and an armature.SOLUTION: An elevator hoist comprises: an armature 30 that can move to a braking position for braking rotation of a sheave and a permission position for permitting rotation of the sheave; a biasing member 46 that biases the armature 30 toward the braking position; a core 40 that electromagnetically sucks the armature 30 when current is supplied, and moves the armature from the braking position to the permission position against the biasing force of the biasing member 46; a pressing rod 34 that projects from the side surface of the armature 30 opposite to the core 40; and buffer rubber 47 that abuts against the pressing rod 34 during the movement of the armature 30 from the braking position to the permission position. The core 40 includes a front storage chamber 43 that is opened to the side surface opposite to the armature 30 so as to store the pressing rod 34, and a back storage chamber 44 that is communicated with the front storage chamber 43 on the side opposite to the armature 30 so as to store the buffer rubber 47.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
