To provide a device for determining the characteristic change of a torsional damper with which it is possible to determine the degree of characteristic change of a torsional damper from the initial characteristic of its hysteresis torque.SOLUTION: A cumulative load X in which loads Lin of a torsional damper 18 during traveling of a vehicle are integrated, is calculated. When, while the cumulative load X is larger than a determination value A (first threshold), an input torque change amount ΔTin at an input shaft 20 is larger than a determination value C (second threshold), or a rotation speed change amount ΔNin at the input shaft 20 is larger than a determination value D (second threshold), it is determined that a characteristic change of the torsional damper 18 from the initial characteristic of its hysteresis torque is large, and an initial value of a characteristic change flag is reset from 0 to 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
