To provide a brake control device that can improve failure detection property of a pressure sensor, and to provide a method for detecting a failure of a brake control device.SOLUTION: A brake control device detects a failure in any of a first pressure sensor, a second pressure sensor and a stroke sensor on the basis of a detection value of the first pressure sensor for detecting internal liquid pressure of a connection liquid passage connecting a master cylinder to a wheel cylinder by operating a shut-off valve in a valve opening direction, a detection value of the second pressure sensor and a detection value of the stroke sensor for detecting a brake operation amount of a driver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
