To provide a train drive efficiency estimation device generating an efficiency map when a train travels: and to provide a train drive efficiency estimation method.SOLUTION: A train drive efficiency estimation device includes a storage part, a drive efficiency estimation part and an efficiency map generation part. The storage part stores information on at least power consumption and the velocity of the train of the power consumption of the train as an object for generating the efficiency map, the velocity, the weight, the acceleration and a tension command value, on a plurality of time-lapse cross sections. The drive efficiency estimation part estimates efficiency indicating a ratio for converting the power consumption of the train to the tensional power of the train according to the velocity of the train using information on the plurality of time-lapse cross sections stored in the storage part. The efficiency map generation part generates an efficiency map indicating a relation between the velocity of the train, the tensional force of the train and the efficiency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
