To provide a shock absorber which suppresses sudden change of a damping force to improve riding comfort of a vehicle.SOLUTION: Axial lengths of a plurality of grooves 3a,3b,3c,3d provided along an axial direction on an inner circumference of a cylinder 1 are longer than an axial length of a piston 2, one of other grooves overlaps at least one groove over a length of the axial length of the piston 2 or more in a circumferential direction, at least one groove is formed so as to be protruded to one end side of axial direction of the cylinder 1 with respect to the other grooves at least one groove is formed so as to be protruded to the other end side in axial direction of the cylinder 1 with respect to the other grooves, when the piston 2 exists in a prescribed range with respect to the cylinder 1, at least one of respective grooves 3a,3b,3c,3d functions as a bypass passage BP and, when the piston 2 enters to the inside from the outside of the prescribed range and when the piston gets out to the outside from the inside of the prescribed range, a channel cross-section area of the bypass passage BP is gradually changed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】本発明は、減衰力の急激な変化を抑制して、車両の乗り心地を良好にする緩衝器の提供を目的とする。【解決手段】シリンダ1の内周に軸方向に沿って設けられた複数の溝3a,3b,3c,3dの軸方向長さは、ピストン2の軸方向長さよりも長く、少なくとも一つの溝に対して他の溝の一つは周方向でピストン2の軸方向長さ以上の長さで重なり、少なくとも一つの溝が他の溝に対してシリンダ1の軸方向の一端側へ突出して形成されているとともに、少なくとも一つの溝が他の溝に対してシリンダ1の軸方向の他端側へ突出して形成されており、ピストン2がシリンダ1に対して所定範囲にある場合に、少なくとも各溝3a,3b,3c,3dの一つ以上がバイパス路BPとして機能し、ピストン2が所定範囲の外から内へ入る場合および所定範囲の内から外へ出る場合において、バイパス路BPの流路断面積が徐々に変化することを特徴とする。【選択図】 図1
