To provide a virtual image display device that is excellent in visuality of virtual images.SOLUTION: An HUD device is configured to project images to a projection unit, and thereby visibly display a virtual image. The HUD device comprises: a light source unit which emits light source light including a plurality of wavelengths; and a screen unit in which the light source light of the plurality of wavelengths is incident and thereby the image is formed, and which guides the light source light to a projection unit side. The screen unit has a selection property of the wavelength greater in interaction than other wavelengths with respect to a specific wavelength among a plurality of wavelengths, and has a plurality of hologram layers with a light guide characteristic distribution in a radial direction making an enlargement angle of the light source light enlarge. In the plurality of hologram layers, a combination of the hologram layers exists that are arranged with the specific wavelength made different from each other, and with center positions Cr, Cg and Cb taking an extreme value in the light guide characteristic distribution shifted in the radial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
