To provide an overhead crane for carrying a steel billet that uses a distance sensor and can grasp the uppermost one of a number of stacked steel pieces quickly and accurately with a simple mechanism.SOLUTION: For the short direction of a steel billet SB, the inclination of the center of the steel billet SB in the short direction and the steel billet SB relative to the crane parallel line are calculated by measuring the dimensions of both ends of the two lines in the short direction with two wide-area laser distance sensors PX1 and PX2. For the long direction, wide-range laser distance sensors PY1 and PY2 for detecting the longitudinal direction are installed on two cranes near the upper end of the long side of the steel billet SB and above the short side of the opposite long side. These two long direction distance sensors PY1, PY2 calculate the dimension center in the longitudinal direction from the position dimensions of the respective longitudinal edges detected by the wide-area laser distance sensors PY1 and PY2 for detecting the longitudinal direction by being placed on the same line of the parallel line of the crane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】距離センサーを使用し、簡易な機構で、迅速且つ正確に、何段にも段積みされた鋼片のうちの最上段の1枚を掴むことができるようにした鋼片搬送用天井クレーンを提供すること。【解決手段】鋼片SBの短尺方向は2個の広域レーザー距離センサーPX1、PX2で2つのラインの短尺方向の両端辺の寸法を測定することで、鋼片SBの短尺方向の中心と鋼片SBがクレーン平行線に対する傾きを算出し、長尺方向については、鋼片SBの長尺方向のある端辺の上方付近と、それと反対側の長尺方向の短辺の上方付近の2箇所のクレーン上に長尺方向検出用の広域レーザー距離センサーPY1、PY2を設け、この2個の長尺方向距離センサーPY1、PY2は、クレーンの平行線の同一ライン上に配置することで、長尺方向検出用の広域レーザー距離センサーPY1、PY2が検出したそれぞれの長尺方向端辺の位置寸法より、長尺方向の寸法中心を算出する。【選択図】図1
