To provide a sign diagnostic device and a method capable of highly accurately detecting abnormality prediction.SOLUTION: A sign diagnostic device uses measurement data in operation time of equipment for detecting abnormality of the equipment on the basis of a difference between data in normal operation time of the equipment in past time and measurement data at time being a diagnostic object, the sign diagnostic device comprises: input means for inputting the measurement data in operation time of the equipment, a peripheral environment in the operation time of the equipment and a situation of the equipment; storage means for storing data of the equipment in the normal operation time; and processing means for selecting the peripheral environment in the operation time of the equipment when data in normal operation time is measured at the time being the diagnostic object, a peripheral environment similar to the situation of the equipment, and data in normal operation time in the situation time of the equipment, from storage means, and detecting abnormality using the data in the normal operation time selected from the storage means and data in the normal operation time at the time being the diagnostic object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
