To enhance safety by inhibiting self-propelling of an electric bicycle attributable to an erroneous manipulation for pushing and walking.SOLUTION: An electric bicycle 1 having an electric motor 21 includes a control unit 221 that selectively implements a first mode in which the electric bicycle is run by adding a first auxiliary driving force, which is exerted by the electric motor 21, to a man power driving force based on an effort made to depress a pedal 17, and a second mode in which the electric bicycle is pushed by a walking user with a second auxiliary driving force, which is exerted by the electric motor 21, added to a pushing force applied to a body 10, or is made self-propelled by applying the second auxiliary driving force, an operation unit 40 that accepts a manipulation to be performed in order to implement the second mode, and a movement detection unit (vehicle speed sensor 243) that detects a movement of the electric bicycle 1. The control unit 221 implements the second mode during a period during which an accepting state in which the operation unit 40 accepts the manipulation and a detecting state in which the movement detection unit detects the movement of the electric bicycle 1 coincide with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
