To provide a technique capable of suitably performing switching determination from voltage phase control to current vector control even when output torque of a motor is reduced.SOLUTION: A motor control method includes: a current control step for executing current control for controlling a motor 9 by controlling a current in accordance with a torque command value to the motor 9; a voltage phase control step for executing voltage phase control for controlling the motor 9 by controlling a voltage phase in accordance with the torque command value to the motor; a mode switching determination step for determining whether or not a control mode of the motor 9 is to be switched from voltage phase control to current control; and a mode switching step for switching a control mode in accordance with a determination result of the mode switching determination step. The mode switching determination step is performed on the basis of a q-axis current when deceleration of the motor 9 is a predetermined value and more, and is performed on the basis of a d-axis current when the deceleration of the motor is less than the predetermined value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
