To provide a marine propulsion devise and a ship capable of recovering contraction flow energy generated by propeller rotation.SOLUTION: A marine propulsion devise comprises a propeller provided at the stern, and a duct located at least partially on the wake side of the propeller and with the centerline along the axis of the propeller rotation. The duct has an airfoil shape in the cross section including the centerline and the angle of the airfoil shape chord direction relative to the centerline is 5 degrees or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
