To prevent breakage caused by excess operation, in a parking lock release unit.SOLUTION: A parking lock release unit includes a base member 12, a transmission member 17 having an inner end housed inside of the base member displaceably in an axial direction and rotatably, and engaged with an outer end of a release shaft in a manner of relatively displaceably in the axial direction and not relatively rotatable thereto, and an outer end including a male screw 61, an operation member 15 supported by the outer end of the base member in a manner that it can be coaxially rotated and cannot be detached to an outer part, and including a female screw 54 engaged with the male screw of the transmission member, and a cam mechanism 19 converting an axial motion of the transmission member into a rotary motion. The female screw of the operation member and the male screw of the transmission member are constituted so that engagement of the female screw of the operation member and the male screw of the transmission member is released when a release shaft is located on a release position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
