To provide a drive motor which can inhibit rapid rotation of an output shaft based on a backlash element of a spline joint, and to provide an electric vehicle.SOLUTION: In a drive motor 100, a torque sensor 50 is disposed at an outer periphery of a shaft. The drive motor 100 includes: a rotor 300; a rotor shaft 310 disposed in the rotor 300; and an output shaft 312 which is coupled to the rotor shaft 310 by a spline joint 314 and transmits rotational force of the rotor shaft 310 to an output side. The torque sensor 50 is disposed closer to the output side than the spline joint 314 in a range where the torque sensor 50 does not overlap with the spline joint 314.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
