To provide a photoreceiver and a vehicle detector capable of shortening a time required for the adjustment of an optical axis by confirming the state of a display unit from a direction different from the width direction of a traffic lane.SOLUTION: Provided is a photoreceiver 12 equipped with a photoreceiver body 33 for receiving light irradiated from one side in the width direction of a traffic lane L, the photoreceiver body 33 comprising a plurality of light receiving elements 52 for receiving light and directed to the one side in the width direction of the traffic lane L, and a light emitting unit 41 including a first display unit 35 for emitting light in accordance with the light detection state of the light receiving elements 52, for irradiating light from the first display unit 35 in a second direction different from a first direction heading toward the one side in the width direction of the traffic lane L.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
