To provide a vehicle control unit securing luminous intensity on the front side at the time of turning on headlights and allowing a driver to easily visually recognize a pedestrian walking across between an oncoming vehicle and an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A headlight control unit 1 for a vehicle 4 including headlights 2, 3 comprises a luminous intensity detector 6, a pedestrian detector 5, and a headlight control unit 10. The luminous intensity detector is configured to detect luminous intensity in a predetermined light projecting range where a light projecting range of the headlights 2, 3 of the vehicle 4 is overlapped with a light projecting range of headlights of an oncoming vehicle. The pedestrian detector is configured to detect a pedestrian in the predetermined light projecting range. The headlight control unit is configured to perform luminous intensity decrease control in which luminous intensity of the headlights 2, 3 of the vehicle 4 is automatically decreased by the luminous detector 6 when the luminous intensity in the predetermined light projecting range is equal to or greater than a predetermined value and when a pedestrian in the predetermined light projecting range is detected by the pedestrian detector 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】ヘッドライトの点灯時に、前方の照度を極力確保しつつも、対向車との間を横切る歩行者を運転者が視認し易くする車両の制御装置を提供する。【解決手段】ヘッドライト2、3を備えた車両4のヘッドライト制御装置1であって、車両4のヘッドライト2、3の投光範囲と対向車のヘッドライトの投光範囲とが重なる所定の投光範囲における照度を検出する照度検出器6と、所定の投光範囲における歩行者を検出する歩行者検出装置5と、照度検出器6により所定の投光範囲の照度が所定値以上であるとともに、歩行者検出装置5により所定の投光範囲内に歩行者を検出した場合に、所定の投光範囲における車両4のヘッドライト2、3の照度を自動的に低下させる照度低下制御を実行するヘッドライトコントロールユニット10と、を備える。【選択図】図1
